Here I Am... Defenseless

An antonym for intimacy could be entitlement. It takes courage to ask for what you want and wait on what you need without flinching when it tarries and not thinking you deserve that it should come.

In hopeful expectation open yourself up to the bitter sweetness of being at a good Lord's mercy.

And wait for it.

While you wait think of these things: He is love, He alone is good, He is light, He poured out His life blood for you on a cross and gave you breathe from His own lungs.

While you wait, trust He will arrive in the way and time that is right. Trust in His character and from that make your guess as to what is most likely to happen.
No, you will not be disappointed- that wouldn't be like Him.

To truly meet on His terms, humble yourself and wait. Don't try to preserve your feelings, pour them out. Don't try to protect yourself with distractions- tv, food, chores and to dos. The antonym for intimacy is giving up before you give in and not realizing just who it is that you have the chance to trust in.

And wait for it.

Habbakuk 2:3
though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.

  1. Thankyou So much for this song. It is exactly what I am feeling tonight. I'm only a month away from graduating college with not much idea of what comes next. This was encouraging.

    1. Hey Mikey,

I know how you feel- but don't feel pressured about the stereo type that when we get out of college and turn 22 we need to have our life in order. Jesus didn't start his ministry until he was 30! And look how powerful it was! He had to spend a lot of time seeking God's will even alone in the wilderness, with tears and with heartache- so be encouraged. God created you to be just who you are at just this exact time in HISstory for a reason! And you will find it if you keep clean hands and a pure heart and love your God with all your heart.

  2. This song "Defenseless" is an authentic pouring out of your soul, "blessed are those who mourn". I appreciate your introductory comments above that both challenge and encourage me to trust in our Father's character with full surrender; waiting for His will and timing to all I have entrusted to Him. Shalom aleichem - David

    1. Shalom Aleichem!

That was the name of my label before I changed it to Wise Sam in honor of my dad.

Yes it's better to be honest and mourn than to deceive ourselves and seek "happiness" all the time.

Blessed are those who recognize their need for God!

      Thanks for your comment :)

  3. Lara, I found your music a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it since then.

I have also watched several of your video blogs. Your understanding of spiritual things is excellent. More of the body of Christ needs to understand these things so we can be stronger and more effective!

My wife and I run a website at http://www.mybibleverseoftheday.com/ where we send out teachings on this type of thing each day. We'd love to have you check it out :)

Keep up the spirit-led music and stay strong in Him!
